A privately funded Chinese company has put satellites into orbit for the first time, marking a step forward for the country’s nascent space start-ups.
Beijing-based iSpace’s Hyperbola-1 rocket blasted off from a state facility in northwestern China on Thursday, sending two satellites and payloads into orbit, the company said.
“The launch mission was a complete success, achieving a breakthrough for the Chinese private launch vehicles,” iSpace said.
