Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam tries to calm protests in direct talks

Hong Kong’s leader Carrie Lam has made her first attempt to pacify widespread protests through direct talks with members of the public, more than four months after the city of 7.4m was swept up in violent anti-government protests.
