A 17-year-old has been arrested after two people were killed near protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where a police shooting of a black man sparked national outrage and prompted the postponement of Wednesday evening’s National Basketball Association playoff games.
Josh Kaul, Wisconsin attorney-general, also released the name of the police officer who shot the man — Rusten Sheskey — and more details about the incident.
The upheaval began on Sunday, when the police officer in the small Midwestern city shot resident Jacob Blake Jr, aged 29, touching off several nights of unrest and calls to hold the officers accountable. Daniel Miskinis, Kenosha’s police chief, said three officers were on leave pending an investigation of that shooting.
