Hunter Biden, the son of US president-elect Joe Biden, revealed on Wednesday that his tax affairs were under investigation by federal prosecutors.
Mr Biden said his lawyers had been informed of the probe by the Delaware US attorney’s office a day earlier. A spokesperson for the office declined to comment on an ongoing investigation.
“I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of this matter will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisers,” Hunter Biden said in a statement.
