Apple delays child abuse detection system after backlash

iPhone maker says it will take time to ‘collect input’ and ‘make improvements’

Apple has bowed to pressure on a planned launch of software to detect photos of child pornography and sex abuse on iPhones after a fierce backlash from privacy campaigners.

“We have decided to take additional time over the coming months to collect input and make improvements before releasing these critically important child safety features,” Apple said in a statement.
