Russian president Vladimir Putin has officially announced he plans to run for another term in next year’s presidential election.
Putin made the announcement, which was widely expected, during a ceremony in the Kremlin on Friday attended by soldiers who participated in Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian leader is expected to win next March’s election, a largely staged event with little real competition, which takes place following years in which any genuine opposition movements have been destroyed.
