Donald Trump’s ‘wrecking ball’ touches down in Davos

From Venezuela to Iran and now Greenland, the volatile US president is tearing up global norms

Asked on Tuesday how far he was willing to go to acquire Greenland, Donald Trump had a simple answer: “You’ll find out.”

It was one moment in a hastily scheduled and rambling 90 minutes in front of the world’s press at the White House, just a few hours before the US president flew to Davos, Switzerland, for meetings with a newly alarmed financial and political elite.

On the weekend, Trump threatened a new trade war on European allies. But on Tuesday, the 79-year-old president had a lengthy defence of his domestic record for the gathered reporters.
