The far-right political party Alternative for Germany has pledged to deport migrants, clamp down on public broadcasters and launch a student exchange with Russia if it takes power in an eastern German state in elections later this year.
At a conference in Saxony-Anhalt on Saturday the AfD launched its “programme for government” in the region, where it is leading in the polls.
If it secures victory in the vote which is due to take place in September, it could take charge of one of Germany’s federal states for the first time in its 13-year history.
