The UK and Ireland are set to host Euro 2028 pending approval by Uefa, after Turkey withdrew its bid to focus on its joint application with Italy for the 2032 edition of the football tournament, according to Uefa.
The bids await a final decision by Uefa’s executive committee next week and will be presented to European football’s governing body at a meeting scheduled for October 10 in Nyon, Switzerland.
“The presentations at that meeting will be an important part of the process, which will take due consideration of the content of the bid submissions before reaching a decision,” Uefa said on Wednesday.
