Los Angeles braced for another blast of powerful winds on Tuesday that mayor Karen Bass likened to a “dry hurricane” as the devastating fires burning across southern California entered their second week.
Gusts of up to 65 miles per hour were set to sweep across the region on Tuesday afternoon and continue into Wednesday, fanning the flames and complicating efforts to contain the inferno.
“Life-threatening and destructive winds are already here,” Kristin Crowley, LA fire chief, said early on Tuesday. “We are taking an aggressive posture.”
