AI boosts effort to combat long Covid and other fatigue diseases

Scientists have uncovered biological changes in gut bacteria, immune responses and metabolism that are potential flags for notoriously hard-to-diagnose diseases of extreme tiredness such as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and long Covid.

The researchers reported 90 per cent accuracy in identifying cases of ME, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome, by using a new artificial intelligence platform to spot markers for the condition from routine lab tests including for blood and stools.
