Donald Trump has urged Republican lawmakers to get behind a deal to end a partial US government shutdown and keep the Department of Homeland Security funded for at least two more weeks.
Democratic lawmakers have refused to support funding for the DHS unless new guardrails for Immigration and Customs Enforcement are in place after the killings of Renée Nicole Good and Alex Pretti at the hands of law enforcement in Minneapolis.
In a post on Truth Social on Monday, Trump said he was working with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson to get a funding deal through the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. Trump vowed to sign the deal “immediately” when it passes.
