Israel carried out an air strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs, broadening its attacks on Lebanon that have killed nearly 100 people since a shaky ceasefire in its war with Hizbollah was agreed last month.
Israel has continued to launch strikes across Lebanon since the April 16 deal to pause hostilities, maintaining that the ceasefire terms allow it to continue striking Hizbollah targets that it says pose an immediate threat.
But Wednesday marked the first time Israel has struck Beirut since April 8, when it carried out a devastating wave of attacks on the Lebanese capital and across the country that killed more than 300 people.
