Google has struck a deal to buy Frommer’s, the travel guides for the post-backpacking generation, as it looks to boost local search results with trusted reviews.
The search group has been bolstering its cache of data on restaurants, hotels and attractions for its Maps and Places features, particularly as more people search for recommendations from their mobile phones.
The Frommer’s team will be integrated with Zagat, the respected restaurant review series that Google bought in September last year.
