“I’ve always cycled to meetings,” says John Caudwell, the entrepreneur who founded mobile phone retailer Phones4U. “I usually turn up in Lycra and do the meeting in Lycra. I suppose people are a bit surprised, but it doesn’t make any difference to what I have to say.”
Mr Caudwell has been cycling for decades and started back when pitching up to a business meeting on a bike was considered eccentric.
Since then – and especially in the past five years – attitudes to cycling have changed both in the business world and society more broadly.
