Skills mismatch alert over emerging markets

Companies around the world face a skills mismatch in overseas markets because many staff do not want to go to emerging economies, PwC, the professional services firm, has warned.

It forecast that the number of workers taking on global assignments will increase by 50 per cent in the next decade to fulfil corporate ambitions but said many companies did not have the right employees in the right places.

More than two-thirds of new graduates wanted an overseas assignment but only 2 per cent were willing to go to mainland China and 11 per cent to India.
