A better interview is the way to reduce bias

One of the world’s top law firms has removed the names of universities from potential recruits’ application forms to reduce the bias in favour of Oxford and Cambridge.

So said a recent report in The Independent newspaper, adding that, with its university-blind interviews, Clifford Chance was recruiting from many more institutions.

It seemed a good story – and a welcome one. Leaders, from the head of the International Monetary Fund to the Pope, have warned that the widening gap between rich and poor was damaging society.
