‘Investors can still enjoy a free lunch in China’

Henry Zhao was the youngest head of a Chinese asset manager when he was appointed chief executive of Harvest Fund Management in 2000.

“And now I am the longest-serving chief executive of a Chinese asset manager,” says Mr Zhao, speaking in English in his first in-depth interview with a non-Chinese newspaper.

“I am lucky, part of a lucky generation that was encouraged to become highly educated and well trained,” says the 50-year-old, who is also a lecturer at Tsinghua University’s Finance Institute.
