The UK government said on Wednesday that Chinese turbine maker Ming Yang’s products pose a national security risk and it could not support their use in UK offshore wind projects.
Ming Yang set out plans in October to invest up to £1.5bn in a Scottish factory to produce turbine blades and other parts for the UK, Europe and other markets.
But the government’s decision to reject Ming Yang’s products for use in UK offshore projects is expected to thwart the company’s proposals for the Scottish plant, which might have been located at Ardersier port in the Highlands.
