Don’t mourn the golden age of TV
别为电视的黄金时代哀悼

We are now the greater part of the way through the year, and no one has recommended a television series to me. In 2018, I would have received (suffered?) a dozen or more suggestions by now. Meanwhile, in political journalism, I notice fewer of the TV allusions — “What Britain needs is a Logan Roy” — with which commentators let readers know that we have a hinterland, however windswept and underpopulated.  

今年已经过去大半,但至今还没有人向我推荐过一部电视剧。而在2018年,这个时候我早已收到十几条(甚至说遭遇更合适)类似的推荐。同时,在政治新闻报道中,我也注意到电视典故变少了——评论员们曾通过类似“英国需要一个洛根•罗伊(Logan Roy)”这样的说法,显示自己在新闻工作之外还有些其他兴趣,哪怕这些兴趣爱好既冷门又稀少。
