Airlines are braced for the busiest Christmas on record, with more than 300mn people expected to fly worldwide over the festive period.
The number of passengers flying from the top 40 countries, led by the US, is expected to hit 309mn between December 15 and January 4, about 4 per cent higher than the same weeks a year earlier, according to figures from airline data platform OAG.
Strong growth in demand from China, India, Brazil and Mexico are expected to drive the increase.
