Current vaccine boosters protect against Omicron, says Fauci

No need for variant-specific jabs yet, according to Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser

Fauci, the chief medical adviser to Joe Biden, US president, released data on Wednesday showing that a third dose of Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine boosts antibody levels well above the threshold needed to neutralise the virus.

The data add to growing evidence that a third dose of the vaccines made by both BioNTech/Pfizer and Moderna offer significant protection, even against the new heavily mutated strain.
