Facebook bolsters users’ data control

Facebook has shaken up its privacy policies in an effort to address campaigners’ concerns and allow its 1.3bn users to have more control of their personal information on the world’s largest social network.

The changes come as technology companies face a new ­privacy battle in the EU and users have grown more wary about the impact of sharing their personal lives online.

Facebook is trying to find a balance between hoarding the data that advertisers crave and ensuring users are still comfortable enough to share online.
