When good greed goes bad and what to do about it

Aman who suffered an emotional breakdown while working for a greedy hedge fund manager came to me for psychotherapy. The excessive demands made of him had left him confused, depressed and highly anxious.

“With a greedy person it’s a bottomless pit,” the man explained. “The worst thing is that you can’t live up to ex­pectations, because expectations keep moving. You can never achieve anything. It’s starting over every day with a goal, which is pushed further away.

“Either you become completely subservient to the person who is driven by greed and you lose your mind eventually, or you get into a massive conflict and then you leave.”
